Yes iv seen it clearly on the census, but the Workhouse admission Register has him down as 4 Months so iv not tied myself to either one, as i cant rely on the name being spelt correctly never mind the D.O.B.

Darren - on the actual image of the census records Cornelius age is quite clearly 4 YEARS not months!

Mary and Cornelius have the surname FARVEY same as the mother's name when her death was register?

The Abergavenny / Blaenavon Falveys i cannot find a link to. These are seperate from my own, although there must be a link somewhere as its only 2-3 miles from where My Falveys were living at the same time. Such an odd name in a small area.

The Workhouse Records you posted are mine. Mary age 14 woke to find her mother dead in bed alongside her Dec 1869 . Mary went to the workhouse and her brother Michael went to a convent on George St /Conway Rd in Pontypool.

I Can find no record of Mary ( the child ) being born , Nor . Im wondering if Cornelius was 4 months, Was he Young Marys child? Maybe thats why she didnt go to the Convent and was sent with Cornelius to the Workhouse?

Young Mary married a Thomas McCourt when she is aged 17, Could he be the father ?
As i said before, it seems her father Patrick had either died or abandoned them.

Hello

A while ago i visited the local Records Office. I looked at the Workhouse Entry Log. I think it was the 1st of December 1869 and it had Mary Falvey who would have been 12/13 as an admission. right below her was a child called Cornelious Falvey aged 4 Months?

This was a very rare name for the area, they had to be related.

Any ideas on this?

Thank you Kath, Will do. Thank you Lynski, Thats the right family. I have been trying to trace the parents of Michael. Patrick and Mary Lundrigan. I have theyre marriage cert from 1853. It shows Patricks father as a Michael Falvey Labourer and Marys father as a Thomas Lundrigan. Labourer.

These were born in Ireland. After the marriage i can get nothing on Patrick. he just dissapears.? His wife Mary dies in 1869 aged 32, Of her 2 surviving children Mary goes to Panteg workhouse, and i think Michael goes to live with local Nuns in Pontypool. The Nunnery is on the same road as you put in the census, Conway Road. Either Patrick died, just before, or abandoned his children. This is my worse brick wall.

They were quite young to turn up alone in wales and get married in 1853, no mention of them on the 1851 census. I can find no other family they both may have had in the area either ?
