From previous exploration it has been agreed that Robert Gray married Ann Nicholson :- |

Thank you Stuart;. From the number of names that you match I would say that is the correct family and you have found some extras that I hadn't seen in Family Search - which might just be my eyesight - lol |

Thank you Mel, your 1851 agrees with what I have on the Gray (Grey) side of the family. I am not sure where Robert Nicholson and Margaret Maling fit in? |

Going by the batch numbers on the names you put up they are from different families. |

I really think you need to get the 1843 marriage cert to confirm Ann's father - it is very easy to go back down the wrong line - been there done that! |

A possibility for Robert and Ann, with only Isabella and Robert at home |

Thanks for the reminder Potty. I have copied and pasted your comment to reinforce my suggestions to my neighbour when she next turns up to view my progress. I now have quite a number of certificate requests ...... |

Thank you Mel and Stuart. The reason I originally included children from different batches is that Newcastle would have had a number of different parishes and, from some previous experience I have found that families may move between parishes either for accomodation and/or christening during the years spread of a family. This is why I believe census confirmation is a help - short of possesing the family bible! |

Also in cities my experience is that 'Batches' can cover only a few years. |

Looking back through the posts I see that Robert c.1793 gives Bethel as his place of birth. Does anybody know where this is please? Bing thinks it is in America ??? but somewhere in Northumberland seems more likely. I am trying to find him being born in Family search. |
