Find Ancestors

Hi there,

Looking for my distant aunt, Isabella Cowan/Cowen in the 1911 census ... she was born c. 1872 in Redcar, Yorkshire. She died in Jan. Qrt 1914 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.

Her husband was John Cowan/Cowen and they had a daughter Lavinia born in Sep. Qrt 1911 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire. They were married in 1904 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire.

Isabella was a widow of Thomas Henry Broomfield, and had the following children who I am also looking for:

Salome Broomfrield (born 1893 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire, not married until 1912)

Mary Ann Broomfield (born 1894 in Middlesbrough, Yorkshire not married until 1916 ... also looking for spouse Michael Savvery in the 1911, born Middlesbrough, Yorkshire in 1897).

Other siblings from the 1901 are:

Henry Broomfield (born 1892 Redcar, Yorkshire)
Arthur Ernest " (born 1896 Middlesbrough, Yorkshire)
James " (born 1899 ")

It appears to be a boy's school.

Hmmm I wonder if it was some kind of reform school - no sign of the others?

I thought Salome would be easy if nothing else.

Hi Catherine - thank you. Initially, I suspect not, but that is a hunch. I am not sure - is her husband present? 'My' aunt Isabella married in 1904, not 1899 ... hmmmm.
