North Petherton is a large village/small town on the A38 road out of Bridgwater.Fordgate is to east on the Bridgwater-Taunton canal.It is a bit sparse with only a few houses and Fordgate Farm out on the Somerset levels.Books on the canal show photos in the 1880s with info on the bargemen and people dwelling there.I have lent this book to my grand daughter for a school project so do not know if I will see it again.

in 1871 she was living with her mother and grandparents

her name was emma jane bartlett her mother was mary jane bartlett, emma was month old in 1871
