Find Ancestors

Hi Everyone,

I have just deleted my thread to be able to do this new one so I can give you all the information I have concerning Lily Ryder and her father Percival, in the hope someone can help me try and find where Lily came from and more information on her father as we have hit a brick wall and no matter where we go or what searches we do we cannot find anything more than what I have put on here about them.

I have Lilys marriage certificate that states she married a George Henry Hulme at St Marys Chatholic Church, Featherstall Road, Littleborough, Rochdale, Lancashire,
on the 3 September, 1921.

Lily was 22 and George 23 when they married, it states Lily was a Cotton Card Room Operative, while George was a Railway Passenger Porter.

They both got married from 101 Featherstall Road, Littleborough, Rochdale, Lancashire.

It also states Lilys father as being a Percival Ryder (deceased) his occupation was a Carter what ever that is.

Witnesses to the marriage where Joseph G Towers and Hilda Towers

I also have her death certificate which states Lily Hulme died 13 December, 1922 aged 24, she died from Pneumonia after miscarriage which was setup by accidental fall downstairs.

I also don't know why you deleted the other thread. Now we don't know what was found on it? Are we just going to duplicate what was already found?

There were shedloads of replies on the other thread, trying to help with this very difficult problem. What a waste of everyone's time.

b) who was Percival Ryder, where did he come from and his date of birth

I remeber finding a possible Percy Ryder on the 1911 (b.1881 in Salford) he was a Carter. On the 1901 census he was a "Surry driver"

A Carter is someone who drives a horse and cart/carriage. A Surrey is a horse-drawn carriage.

If it was this Percy, then he didn't marry Lilly's mother.

Of course you don't feel it was a waste of time, it wasn't YOUR time that was being wasted. I remember spending a lot of time on this one.

Could be interesting.........Ellen (Lily's mother) states married 9 years...around the birth time for Lily but no sign of her husband. In the 1901 census she is unmarried and a lodger.
