I've tried to discover why people were removed from or to a particular village - no luck yet

Wow!
Thank you so much for the research.
You have confirmed some what I knew and given me heaps to digest.
I am doing some searching in census records in 1841 & 1851 and have found the reference to Stephen and Mary's son Henry born @ 1820 Kent and still living there. Taking all the information you provided and my research I have made an executive decision re parentage - Stephen & Mary.
Regards,
Lynne (in Australia)
