I thought you were looking for the Hale family in 1861 and that Eliza had married some time after the census!


Have you changed the title from 1861 to 1851 or am I going nuts!!

It's not the 1851 census that Thelma has posted - she (Elizabeth) was born in Scotland

And the Hules one definitely has her born in Chelmsford Essex though I agree it looks like Hales rtaher than Hules.

Gins - it IS 1851 that Elizabeth is looking for - I just posted the 1861 (as remarried) for reference.

The marriage in 1842 John Hale/Eliza Davis looks promising but think I will need to get the marriage cert for Thomas Broom/Eliza Hale in 1861 to be sure - hopefully it will give both her names (fingers crossed !)

That sounds like the best plan,Elizabeth.

Just to note that the 1842 marriage was for Davis and Gilman so not yours.

Her father's name and occupation should be on the marriage certificate to Thomas Broome so that is definitely the way to go.
