It appears I was wrong about Ellen Primrose--she did not go to Australia after her parents--she went to live in Oldham and had another child there to her new husband whose name was Farrell.

cant see a Michael Marshall mmn Knight.


It would seem that Ellen wasnt married to Mr Marshal.

One of those birth certs will give his christian name

No sorry I don't and my friend is out all day.I will speak to her tonight and let you know but I know they were not the 3 children were were named Marshall,they were Ronald born 1917 , Doren was the child born later in Oldham and the third child was name Michael but that is all my friend knows about him

It is not unusual for a Fathers name to be entered on a birth cert...even though the parents weren't married.

I purchased birth certificates for two brothers last month. Both certificates gave the same surname of the Father...but the first name was different. The first son was actually illegitimate.

No neither can we but my friend has her dads birth certificate which gives fathers name as marshall and mothers maiden name so it does look as if they were married.There is some stuff on the internet regarding Ellen Primrose but nothing about this marriage.My friends dad was born in Birkenhead and his sister in Oldham but my friend does not know anything about another child apart from the fact that he died aged about 3.We cannot even find anything about her grandfather,on 1 birth certificate his name is given as David Marshall but on her aunts birth certificate it is down as Frederick.

I am not seeing a Knight/Marshall marriage in England or Wales.

I posted her birth to show that her surname was not "Kight"

We have her birth.it is the marriage my friend is trying to find.She can track Ellen Primrose but not David or Frederick.There were at least 3 children born during this marriage.
