Shirley Report 17 Jun 2012 17:43

Hi
I am struggling to find this couple on the 1881 census in burnley. I had marriage in 1880, she was widow. She was previuously married to richard duxbury. I am not to keen on the new familysearch.org site and find it impossible to find anything on it. Not sure if they already had a son between them, arthur i think. But hannah already had son abel and daughter pathinia.
Can anyone spot william and hannah on the 1881 census? Apparently william was born in paris france, but not sure if thats correct.
thanks
shirley

Tempest, are you using IE8 browser?

If so, on the url box at the very top of the screen there will be an icon that looks like a piece of torn paper. Click on that and it should turn a darker blue, repeat for each tab that you have open. That puts the browser into compatibility mode and should stop all that white space when you're copying & pasting. :-)

Thanks everyone. yes, thts right. I know i should persevere, but i really struggle with it. I preferred old one. I have all marriages, of abel and pathinia, etc. Was just going to have a look at william jones and hannah for a chnage. Been doing my duxbury's for years. have got stuck with a brick wall so thought id digress a little. Never checked out william. Trying to find their deaths now, found a brilliant new thing on lancashire parish clerks that helps me find whose in the graves at burnley cemetery. So thought maybe id try to find their deaths but with a name like jones, its hard work. I did notice that a child william and hannah had in 1889 , arthur, has possibly got a death in 1893. But i had forgotten about theresa. thanks, i may look for her, maybe find her marriage.
bet i struggle with william jones, doubt i will find birth or death for him. Thought i may find him in the graves of burnley cemetery but no luck yet.
thanks guys. Youve been great.

think ive found her in 1921 aged 77, and found grave and occupants. Dont recognise any of the other names, but that will be interesting to find out who they are. Maybe family of her daughter theresa?

Shirley

Shirley Report 17 Jun 2012 18:51

Oh no. Looks like theresa died aged eight, soon after census. probably. So looks like no children of marriage of william and hannah. thats a shame.

Hi ann
Do you think thats the correct one then? I know nothing about him. I wonder where that one you found is on the 1871 census? i guess i would have to get the marriage certificate of hannah and william to find more about him really. i suppose if it said dad was james that would be a definate possibility .
