I also think the death place of Jamaica has been mistakenly accepted instead of St George's Hanover Square!

I'm sure we can help Pam unravel this if she can just confirm who she is working back (or forwards from).

There are quite a few trees on Ancestry and they all seem to have got their Robert and Elizabethes mixed up (that's what they get for copying and accepting Ancestry's daft hints!!)

Joseph Pettit apparently died in Suffolk General Hospital in 1892. Someone has perhaps tried to put in "Hospital" for the death location and Ancestry has offered the Hospital region in Chile as a location and the tree owner has blithely accepted it.

The motto is - don't accept hints and only take from other people's research if it's authenticated by documentation. Do your own research!

There are a few trees on ancestry is one of them yours? Father Joseph died in Bury st Edmunds not Chile

I think the two marriages show that they are two different Roberts. In order to confirm which is the right wife and children Pam needs to clarify which is the correct Robert.

Pam, there's the possibility that they are two different Roberts - what was the occupation of Robert on the marriage to Elizabeth Mary Dye?

On the 1866 marriage to Elizabeth Shurvell he was a groom residing 33 Princes Street. Most importantly, he was stated as being a bachelor. His father's name is Joseph.
