the above married in the 1st quarter 1879 9b 274. same number on both entries. I have mary ellen phillips birth but can't find zachariah. on the marriage lines zachariah has chapel after his name would that be a middle name???
cannot find his birth anywhere so as i say stumped

You need to get the marriage cert and find out how old he was on his marriage ?

Is Zachariah still alive? 1979 is not that long ago. If you believe him to be deceased you could try and get a hopefully fairly accurate date of birth for him. If he is still alive, you might try posting on Living Relatives - assuming that he is a relative.

There are four Zacharia Ashton in Birth Records on GR, none of which could be yours.

And having looked at various entries I got to marriages and discovered your Zachariah married in 1879.

Easily done but now you need to edit your post for the correct year. :-D

And yes it does appear that Chapel is a middle name.

1911 census was from Ancestry - usually a pay site but has been free to search this weekend.

Also used freebmd and familysearch.org which are also free.

Must say, you threw us a curve ball at first with a 1979 wedding !!
I see you've amended it now..... to 1989 ... it gets better !!!

Go in and change the date again (in your first post) will you ;-)

We all help here. Before I joined GR I had been able to do quite a lot using the free sites and the help of a friend who had access to various sites. So if you can afford it, I would definitely suggest that you get a sub to one of the sites which will allow you to find a lot of what you are looking for. The best free sites I found and which we all still use are FreeBMD and FamilySearch.

Until then, please ask if you need a look-up on a census etc. Maybe with the credits we help you to save, you can buy a sub and then you will move on to helping others aswell.
