Hi Teresa,

If at any point you connect to a Josephine Slack born Derby 1899 and married Charles Busby, send me a message. Great Aunt Jose isn't on my tree as yet but she connects to me through the Busby's

Thank-you Jonesey,
I did think that John might have already passed away but was hopeful for Mary still being alive with some of the children still at home.
Can't win them all though.
Many thanks Teresa

Jonesey

Teresa,

Nothing obvious showing for John and Mary Slack in the 1851 census. One thing to bear in mind is that in the 1841 census ages of people over 15 were rounded down to the next 5 or 0 below so the both could have been up to 4 years older than the census indicates.

There are numbers of John and Mary Slack deaths in Nottinghamshire 1841~1851 but as no ages were recorded in the index at that time it is not possible to say whether the John and Mary you are after was amongst them.

If you get Shady's birth cert it will show Ann's maiden name.
Loving these names, sound like something from Dickens!

Hi.
Having been given 1841 census for John age 65 and Mary Slack age 45 and the 1841 census for Joseph Smalley age 30 and Ann age 30, I have looked through the IGI for a clue for their births but there are too many in Notts as I don't know where they came from . Could some-one look them up in a later census to see where they were born please.
Regards Teresa
