Oh dear, This family seems to have a few James born same year.According to Family Search his Father is George and Mother Alice. He has named two of his children George and Alice. 1851 Census I believe he was a visitor with Phoebe Council - unmarried Washer Woman. no more info on this. |

In 1851 this is the family living in the next house to Phoebe Council. Might that James be one of James and Sarah's children? |

Thanks Jonesey, At a loss here. Could well be son of John and Sarah but so many same names for children in this family. I wonder what happened to George and Alice. Will have to dig deeper. Thanks again. |

Have you got his marriage cert? This should give you his father's name and occupation. |

I believe he might very well be the son of John Day and Sarah Slocombe, as Sarah had an aunt that was named Hannah slocombe that marred a Couzzen and emigrated to New York State. Sarah was a sister to my 3 great grandfather John Slocombe who married Mary Davis. |
