Hi, I'm trying to determine what happened to Mary Ann Lamb an ancestor of mine. Her Parents were William Lamb and Grace Lamb (nee Dixon) and she had two elder sisters Grace and Isabelle. I believe they are together in the 1861 census but are not with their family in the 1871 census, and I cannot find any other trace of her.Can any body find her ? |

Hello Ian, are you a direct descendant of hers? If so then she must have married and had children in order for you to be here? |

It looks as though William moved around a lot so it's difficult to establish which of the many records (marriages/deaths) for Mary Ann Lamb could be the right one .... |

Thanks to everyone for their response, the majority of the findings are already known to me namely that William was married three times, however, whats new is that Mary Ann could have married and then died at a young age. It fits with the location at that time of one of her sisters , is it possible to confirm place of birth and father from marriage cert? |

If this is the one that you're talking about in 1881 his parents are William & Grace: |

Hello Ian, the marriage certificate should give you the fathers' names and occupations but not the birthplace. |

With ref. to Veras findings First, Mary ann was born in Winlaton Durham and not Farnam so doesn't look right ,second, the Charles Henry identified in the 1911 census is correct and thirdly, the Charles Lamb born in Tunbridge wells has already been shown to be the wrong one (previous posting). Also, I believe that Bourne in sussex should be Eastbourne, thanks again |
