Yes, I did find Susannah in 1861, she was working as a servant so didn't help me. |

jax, yes you did say the age looked more like 45. I hadn't spotted that one!! The tree on Ancestry may not mention a daughter Sarah but there was one, Sarah 2nd daughter bapt 1824 East Torrington, she is the one I believe was Susannahs mother. she was in service in 1841. Thanks again... |

Thanks guys what a lot of information, Edgar Dawson was my grandfather and yes he left a bunch of children and a wife when he died. The two youngest, twins were sent to Barnardos and didn't return home until they were 14. I think it possible that the birth in 1847 illegible could be Susan/Susannah as she was not born in 1826 as the census indicates. Still comes back to a probable illegimate birth and her Grandfather and grandmother brought her up. |

It would appear that as she was brought up by her grandparents, it's her grandfather's name she has put forward in place of a father. |
