Hi Margee, yes I did take note of that thanks. See how they get things wrong sometimes as with Reginald, some places they have him down as being Reginald M Boyd when in fact he is Reginald N Boyd. Good job some of us are on the ball. If you didn't know for sure the initials then it could put you off the scent so to speak.

Kind regards

Kathryn

Kathryn, note on that 1911 census the boys ages are right but someone miscalculated the birth years. Should be 1906 and 1908 not 1896 and 1898.

Thank you so much Marie. This is all very interesting and exciting. I do so hope you are able to come up with further info in due course. Once again, thanks so much.

Not seeing anything further at present.

Have forwarded to Kathryn the 1911 census and the marriage of Reginald jnr.

Kathryn, I only have what is available on Ancestry worldwide. I understand Canada has pretty strict privacy laws so the information on there is somewhat limited.

However, I'm happy to see if there's anything else .....

PS - in addition to the 1911 posted at 13:02 Reginald was an Engineer in a foundry. They lived at 19 North Park.

Hi Marie, thank you so much for the indepth info on Reg Jnr, is there anyway you can go further with this research ie to see if they had any children please, obviously you have the means, site etc to research this family.

Kind regards

Kathryn, it IS the marriage of his son - I've just added further info. If you'd like the original image then click on the purple "Send Message" button under my name and send me your email address (don't put it on here)

Do NOT start a new thread, just keep with this one (best to have all info in one place and rules are one thread per family) :-)

We're here to help with whatever resources we have.

Thank you for the marriage of Reginald N Boyd Jnr, am sure this is the same family, sadly I don't think there is a way to research birth, marriages, deaths et from here. Not that I'm an expert, otherwise I wouldn't be asking for help. I do not have subscriptions or spare money for the same hence my asking the help of all you dear people.

Kind regards

Hi Margee, thank you for that, even on that form they get the middle initial wrong. It is definitely my Reg so to speak. Am wondering if there is anyway in tracing the children of their marriage albeit John and Reg Jnr would have passed on but they may well have had children. This is exciting.

Kind regards

Must be a connection?

Quebec Vital and Church Records (Drouin Collection), 1621-1967

Yes! This is his son.

The marriage took place 17/08/1933. He was the son of the late Reginald Newton Boyd and Sophia Ann Murphy.

Hi, have just found that Reg married in 1905 in Halifax so he must have gone out to Canada prior to this. Sorry.

You'd do better to ask for info about the ship on which he served............as opposed to the Titanic

Hi, thanks for the link, very interesting. Just for clarification Reginald (although shown in the 1881 cesnsus as R W Boyd) his middle name was Newton, his mother's name prior to marriage was Isabella Newton. Not sure why she used her maiden name as a middle name for Reg. I will hold out on here to see if anyone has possibly a crew list for that period, you never know but I do appreciate everyone's input but at the same time don't want to waste anyone's time.

Kind regards

Here we are! (EDIT: Not so sure, see bottom of this post)

Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935

Name: Reginald W Boyd
Date of Arrival: 31 Mar 1919
Vessel: Empress of Britain
Port of Arrival: St.John, New Brunswick
Port of Departure: Halifax, Nova Scotia
Roll: T-14837

Hmm, not so sure, have now seen on other posts his middle initial was "N" (although the typing on original image is blurred, it could be an "N"). However, this is a troopship and this chap is a serving member of the forces. Plus, it's after "our" Reginald died. Will still leave even if for elimination.

MarieCeleste

MarieCeleste Report 20 Nov 2011 12:47

Have absolutely no idea if this is your chap:

Canadian Passenger Lists, 1865-1935

Name: Reginald Boyd
Gender: Male
Date of Arrival: 30 Sep 1909
Vessel: Tunisian
Port of Arrival: Quebec
Port of Departure: Liverpool, England
Roll: T-4763

No age given just "A" to denote Adult. His onward destination was Ingersoll and he was a tourist.

Hi, I have done some research but was just wondering if there were any avid Titanic researchers who may have some info on Reginald and his co crew etc. Also I was wondering if anyone can look up as to when Reg went to Canada please?

Kind regards

Kathryn
