Find Ancestors

Hi, I am trying to trace Ephraim Speckman/Spackman. He was born in Wiltshire in 1817. He appears in the 1851 census living in London (St George in the East) with his wife Ann and his children. After that there are no records at all. Also, his son Albert (born in London 1835) seems to have "vanished" too. There are no more records on him. (there are lots of Albert Spackman/Speckman born in the same year but they do not appear to be him) I traced two of his daughters but Albert and Ephraim seem to have disappeared off the face of the earth. Has anyone got any ideas where I can look next. Thanks

Thanks for all your help. I just don't know where else to look for Ephraim and Albert!!

Sylvia has pointed out that Albert could have reverted to his original name of Coveney, as he is not Ephraim's son, but Ann's from her first marriage.
Ephraim and Ann married in 1836, Albert was born in 1835.
Have you got your ancestor Tom's birth certificate which should show his Mother's maiden name as (probably) Shearman.

What a mystery! Thank you. Haven't got the birth cert but will try to get it. will keep trying to find Ephraim but am not very hopeful.He seems to have vanished off the face of the earth.
