I have Ann Elizabeth Agar Lodge's birth certificate ,dated 1862 born at Kirkheaton Huddersfield. Her mother was Hannah formerley Agar and her father was James ,an outdoor labourer ,There address's were both of Brownhills Kirkheaton .She was , my great grandma and she was always known as Annie . I know now that it was not the right person who married in Hemsley in1861 .Thanks everyone.

I would seriously doubt that Jean has the birth cert.............but until she returns to her thread, we are speculating about the whole scenario.

It seems odd that the child wasn't baptised until the age of 8, as there were no siblings baptised at the same time.

On the image of Anne's marriage record, James Lodge is a Labourer

Another thought

She was baptised in Huddersfield and married there

The address and occupation of her father on marriage cert do not match the info on the 1881 census for James and Hannah Lodge who are still in Dewsbury

Are we looking at the wrong family

Think I am missing something here

There are baptisms for Elizabeth Ann 1865 and Hannah Maria 1870 in Dewsbury to James and Hannah

So Elizabeth on 1871 is not Anne using her middle name

So where is Anne in 1871

Would like to know what exactly is the wording on the birth cert

My guess is they were wed. The NE of England is the most likely area to give the mum's MS in OPRs. Here's a transcription from 40m N of Danby that I happen to have handy:
