Hello All,

Can any one please help with my Moger family?

I am looking for M Moger and I think his name is Michael known as Mick he would have been born about 1905 in West Ham, Essex, Middlesex and I know he went to New Zealand to live as I have a letter that he wrote home in 1954 saying he had got married to Lorna and that they had one on the way!

Micks parents were Arthur Moger 1867 and Eliza Dimond. He has several brothers and sister who all lived in Walthamstow, west Ham area.

Also Alma Moger I would love any info on this lady please.

There is a death on NZ BMDs fo r Lorna Frances Moger(b 2 Jun 1931) in 1985 ref 33163

who is Alma Moger ?

was she born in 1928 ? that is the only one in England/Wales

I see a marriage for her but no death so I will not put details here

I don't find any children to the marriage

it was added in July of this year so you could probably contact the person via the Ancestry private message system

perhaps you know whose child Alma was

there are 6 Warren Moger births in West Ham including Alma in the 1920s
followed by 3 Warren Moger births in Epping in the 1930s

Thank you for all your hard work in seaching for me, I do very much apprecaite this. I knew the two brother had also ammrried two sisters and I wasn't sure but I felt that Emla may be the daughter of Alexander but couldn't prove it.

Checked NZ BMDs again and found a death for a Alexander Sydney Moger(b 28 Feb 1903) in 1977
Checked on feeBMDs and found
Alexander Sydney Moger, b Q1 1903 so I think it this person you are lookiing for in NZ and not Michael who we can find no trace of
The only trouble with this theory is that Chrissiex found a marriage for Alexander S - Perhaps he divorced his wife or she died and he then went to NZ

Great stuff that helps because Alexander is the brother of Michael and I believe he married Violet Warren in 1927 and then the trial went cold this must be because he went to NZ.

I know Michael went and he married Lorna because we have a letter telling the rest of the family that he has got married and has one on the way the letter is pos marked 1954. :-D

the names are too unusual for these to be any other people and the death record for Alma Rose Mack shows a birthdate that matches the birth record of Alma R Moger

I wonder whether one of the other brothers was 'known as' Mick and there was no Michael at all?

( possibly they were of Irish background ? Alma for instance married a McCullough and a McBreen )

I can't find any Mogers going to NZ ( or Australia ) on findmypast passenger records at all

Sidney Arthur William MOGER actually sounds like possibly a son of one of the 1911 household sons ... they were rather old to marry in 1954 ...

certainly seems to be the person in question

but who is

so it seems much more likely that it was Sidney 1932 who married Lorna Blackmore

I suspect that Sidney A Moger travelled too but the name is mistranscribed so I can't find it :-)

Vicky is the only reason you believe there was a Michael Moger the fact that you have a letter signed by 'Mick' ?

that really is what you should be saying if so



in any event ... there are only the four Moger telephone listings in NZ at present and at least one if not all of them has got to be related, why not contact ?

our real problem here is that we don't actually know what you are wanting to do, I think

Firstly thank you and sorry for any confusion with Michael or Mick the only two things I had to go on was my mother's recollection from her mother which is a long time ago. I also have the letter post marked 1954 from Mick in New Zealand saying he had got married to Lorna so I guess Mick or Michael is possibly Sidney Arthur William MOGER in 1954.' this would make sense?

I have dashed in from work to see any progress and I shall sit quitely and try to puzzle this all out further and certainly as there are only 4 Mogers and the addresses are avialable I shall write to them all. It all became increasilying confusing with names and two brothers marrying two sisters and as there was apparently a fall out within the family and my grandad meeting an early death at just 39 years we didn't know what happened. So thank you for all that has kindly helped and as soon as I hear further I shall let you all know if you wish.

I have now had a bit more time to digest this info and I now believe that Mick has to be Sidney Arthur 1954 who married Lorna and this ties in nicely with the letter of 1954. They said they has one on the way which I still need to trace but this information has been brilliant.
Gosh knows how you get to Mick from Sidney? but this appears to be correct.

The 4 addresses in NZ I shall write to as I believe this will be a good worthwhile exercise. I shall also look at Ancestry as I am also a member there as well.
