Sorry Jane, the Hull LDS does not stock the Rawcliffe registers. I expect the originals are across in the Beverley Archives and if I go anywhere near there in the next week or so, I'll have a look for those baptisms and the 1856 marriage for you.

I think you can be confident about the baptisms Dea found on familysearch: they are extracted from the parish registers and those records are generally very accurate. Unfortunately, the various entries submitted by church members are not so reliable :-(

Jane, those two baptisms (Mary Ann & James Gray) were definitely in Rawcliffe, chapelry of Snaith. Mary Ann was baptised on 7 Dec 1856 by Rev'd Mr W Barstow. The address of John and Hannah was given as Airmyn Pastures.

James was baptised 17 Apr 1858 by Revd William Smith. They were living in Rawcliffe by then.

Unfortunately, the film I was looking at did not have the marriages (and it's possible they married in another parish if she was well-advanced in pregnancy or just delivered of Mary Ann.

I also noticed the burial of a Martha Gray of Rawcliffe aged 51 on 1 Sep 1857....I wonder if she was his mother?

I have just had a look at my tree and I do not know who Martha Gray was. I will have to look into her a bit more and see if i can find a connection.
