Thank you for all your help. I have added my ancestors to my tree. In my Mum's family, the practice of re-distributing the children amongst the family households who had no or just a couple of kids survived until my lifetime. Also, the girls holding the position of Housekeeper for local Widowers or single men also survived....:-) |
