Just a thought but on the off-chance he was connected to the Norway family I tried Jonathan Norway in the 1911 and no luck.

Why I hear you ask? Nevil Shute Norway an engineer better known as Nevil Shute author. I don't have any family tree info for this family but as I say, on the off-chance that Shute was a family name....

Ah right, thank you Jillian, i've never heard of him but i'll do a search and some digging, thank you, you never know.

I can give you a bit of the family info. I needed an escape one evening and started to look at famous people in the late 1800's and early 1900's and their 'real' names then had a go at tracing them on FreeBMD. Pretty sad thing to do but great for totally useless info for quizes.

Nevil Shute Norway was born 17th Jan 1899 Somerset Road, Ealing (Wiki). His father was Arthur Hamilton Norway and his mother Mary Louise Gadsden. FreeBMD Brentford 3a 138 Jun 1892. I found them in the 1901. Arthur was born Egloshayle, Cornwall and Mary according to the census India.

Shute was an engineer under his 'proper' name but wrote under his given and second name (Wiki).

I did check on trees and there is one person with Arthur and Nevil listed.

Lots of people might recognise him as the author of A Town Like Alice.
