Find Ancestors

I am looking for any information about EVA WINIFRED WOOD born around 1912 in Lancashire . Her address at marriage was11 the Bourne Lancashire, and her father (Andrew )was deceased. I would like to trace her birthplace,parents and any siblings. She was my mother's stepmother, and my grandfather (William Benson, a soldier) married her in Ware on 24/10/1945. She had a son John at this time . they came to Belfast after this. thanks in anticipation, Hilary.

On the marriage cert does it give any occupation for Andrew or is he just marked as deceased.

Where someone married is not really any indication for where they were born

HI, I dont' have this documentation, only going on anecdotal evidence. her name and marriage place are accurate, and I believe she was a laundry worker prior to marriage, sorry this is extent of my knowledge.I looked at the birth records but didn't recognise her. She once said her cousin was Peggy Wood , the mother superior in the film The Sound of Music, but perhaps she was delusional.

Is she had a son John when she married your Grandfather, is it possible that she was married before.........or does it state she was a spinster on the marriage cert?

No he was the father, born two and a half years before , apparently His first wit had died (my mum's mother in june 1942, he was returning to north africa when he met Eva ! when he was on leave, she traced him through the salvation army!

Could this be the son, John?

The fact the son was born in WW2 in Blackpool could be that she relocated due to the London Bombings. One of my sisters went to Colne in lancashire from SE london as an evacuee.

The Peggy Wood connection looks like a red herring! If you google her name, you will find she was born in Brooklyn, New York in 1892.

The Andrew J Wood born 1875 died in Cheshire,according to 1911 census he is in cheshire but born in Leith Edinborough.

Not him he married Marian freeman 1900,probate when he died left to Marian.

Don't the daughters know her birth date?

A tree on Ancestry has the above Eva winifred 1901 with mum Winifred Agnes,it says Eva died 1911.

Googled her address and there is a hotel in Blackpool called the Bourne.
Bearing in mind her job and place of birth for a John Wood mum nee Wood in Blackpool could there be a connection here.
