Well for that effort you get an almost gold star and 9 out of 10. I believe the record has been mistranscribed.
Naturally I would like it to read Ranger and not Raugh. If I squizzy my eyes up and look sideways at the writing the "er" on the end does look like an "h". Please tell me I'm not dreaming!!!

Have just found a birth to Martha and William Target, Mary Ann Target. I do not think they are connected.

Yes I see what you are getting at. Father and mother's names are correct and Francis is Edward's fathers name.
George by this time was 22 years old (born c.1819) so he could have left home. District is correct. Going to look at image.

I can find them on the 1851 and 1861 census. By this time George is in Australia
I can find George's christening - listed
I can find Edward's christening - listed
I can not find George's birth
I can not find Edward and Martha's marriage
I have not looked for Martha's birth because I am not certain of her birth name.
However I can find a marriage between William Henry Target and Martha Mitchell in 1819. Martha Ranger's "maiden" name has been listed as Martha Target on trees elsewhere.
I can not find the family on the 1841 census. This is the census which should have George with the family.
