I've been looking, but can't see anyhting that fits

Could Ann and John have emigrated?

I did note that Ann was put first on the 1841 census ......... I wonder if that means that she was the older child?

Thanks Syliva

I had a feeling they were not twins but without evidence showing one must assume. I don't trust any of the ages on the 1841 for this family, however one has to go with what one can find. I do thank you for the information regarding ages on the 1841, I would never have known.

Chris

Ages of people over the age of 15 were rounded down on the 1841 census ......... so someone showing as age 15 on that census was actually between 15 and 19

so the fact that your Ann and ehr borther both showed as 15 did not mean that they were twins, nor that a mistake had been made. It was just the rounding down.

of course, just to make life difficult for us, not all enumerators did round down the ages!

Adding to this post for further information please see my last post for details at the bottom for further information sought.

Am trying to find the 1851 and onwards Census for Ann Fletcher nee Unsworth she was born in Bolton although no parish records are available, not sure where the husband was born, possibly Burscough from the LSD search, but can't be sure as I have no information, hoping the Census might provide some insight.

Marriage: 25 May 1846 St Peter, Bolton, Lancashire, England
John Fletcher - (X), Full Carder Bachelor of Great Bolton
Ann Unsworth - (X), Full Spinster of Great Bolton
Groom's Father: James Fletcher, Weaver
Bride's Father: William Unsworth, Weaver
Witness: William Thorp, (X); James Liptrot
Married by Banns by: Thos. Loxham Curate
Register: Marriages 1846 - 1847, Page 55, Entry 110
Source: Microfilm of register at Manchester Library

On the 1841 I have Ann Unsworth age 15 with brother Richard both age 15 have not been able to establish whether these two were twins or info on 1841 incorrect. Have checked LDS and On Line Parish Records, no luck.

Marriage: 27 Sep 1846 St Peter, Bolton, Lancashire, England
Richard Unsworth - (X), Full Grinder Bachelor of Great Bolton
Eliza Morris - (X), Full Spinster of Great Bolton
Groom's Father: William Unsworth, Weaver
Bride's Father: James Morris, Weaver
Witness: William Rogers, (X); James Liptrot
Married by Banns by: Thos. Loxham Curate
Register: Marriages 1846 - 1847, Page 156, Entry 312
Source: Microfilm of register at Manchester Library

On 1851 Richard age 25 and wife Eliza are living at 46 Spring Gardens Bolton and mother Alice at 40 Spring Gardens Bolton father William has disappeard and can't find a death for him. Have not been able to locate Ann Fletcher nee Unsworth and husband John on 1851. Wondering what age Ann is recorded at on the 1851 so can establish whether Ann and Richard were twins?

1841 census
Address Spring Gardens
District Bolton, Western Bolton
Parish Bolton
Administrative County Lancashire
william unsworth 36
alice unsworth 46
elizabeth unsworth 22
ann unsworth 15
richard unsworth 15
nancy unsworth 1
HO 107 / 535 / 8
Note: Think all these ages on the 1841 are not correct. Alice is on the 1851 as Widow age 60, so a four year age gap, although definately the same family.

I know this a big ask but if anyone has the time could they check out the 1851 for Ann Fletcher nee Unsworth for me, I want to see what her age is recorded as. Any help much appreciated.

Chris
