what makes you think that death registration is your William?


There are several William Unsworths born between ca 1800 and 1815 in Lancashire

I have a death registration for William Unsworth who I thought passed away between 1841 and 1851, it seems he moved from the family home after his children Ann and Richard married both in 1846. Could someone please look up the 1851, 1861, and 1871 Census for Willam please. All I can provide about William is his death registration and the 1841 Census which is at the top of this post. He was not the husband of Alice, but her brother or brother in law. Have not been able to find a birth or marriage for him, hoping the Census with shed some light on that.

You have been so helpful with this, I am in two minds whether it is 69 or 60 but am tending to err on it being 69 for Alice's age as well. That would put a whole different light on things. I would appreciate it if you could send me the 1841 original transcript please. One thing from the 1851 original Alice's place of birth is stated as Goulbourne and Elizabeth's is Chowbent this will give me something to follow up with as long as the records are available on-line.

As far as I know they did not emigrate, I also thought that as Ann was put first on the 1841 she may have been the older of the two, failing that they were twins. Do not have access to the original of the 1841.

On the 1851 I have Alice as listing her age as 60 not 69, making her 10 years older than William, do not have orig view of this census. That is why I am puzzled about all the ages, the fact that William has gone from the 1851 Census either he died or hopped it which I have not been able to establish from the records available on line.

Do you have the correct 1851 if you have Alice as 69? This is 1851 I have.

I also wondered if Elizabeth was Williams daughter, have not been able to find a marriage for Alice and William, a lot of incorrect information with this family and not helping that no access to records on line to help. That is why I am trying to follow Ann and Richard to try and glean something from them.

Just looked at the index, and no mistake there!


Of course, Alice could have lied about her age ........ if her age on the 1851 is the correct one (69, b.ca1791), then she was 15 years older than William ....... I wonder if she took a few years off her age? Not unknown for that to be done!



Looking again at the 1841, I wonder if all the children were actually William's?

If he is 36, Elizabeth is showing as 22 and that fits with her age of 33 on the 1851 ............... he'd would only have been 14 or 15 when she was born!


I wonder if Elizabeth was Alice's child from before her marriage?
