Find Ancestors

Hi
I am trying to find the marriage details of my grandmother and grandfather - Arthur Thomas (possibly Thompson) Watson and Ada Louisa Newton in Birmingham around 1900-1902. I have searched the records files but don't seem to be having any luck.
His father's name was Joseph Watson and his mother Elizabeth Joynes.
Can anyone help or give me some advice on where to look next?

Any possibility that Ada had been married before?
Or that they did not actually marry?

What are their approximate dates of birth?

Have you looked for the couple on the 1911 census. If together they should have indicated how many years they have been married. If they have answered truthfully that will at least help to pin down the year of their marriage.

Where an when were they born and do you know whether they had any children? If so where and when was the oldest born?

Curiously there's a marriage of Ada Louise Newton to a possible Arthur Thomas Giddings or a Benjamin Watson in 1900:

I have found them on the 1911 census and that states that they have been married for 9 years. They have 2 children Gladys born 1908 and Elizabeth born 1910 and are living with his mother. Both listed as being born in Birmingham.
Arthur was born in 1882 and Ada around 1885.
I have thought that maybe they didn't get married, even though they ended up having 8 children.

But the 1911 census that was posted gives her name as Ida not Ada.

I have a copy of the original document and the name could be Ada or Ida. Her eldest daughter was called Gladys Ada and my father's birth certificate states that her name was Ada.

Thank you Jonesey. Not sure how I can confirm this as have no idea of her parents names.

On that 1901 census that Jonesey posted Ada is a sister of Henry Newton so if we could find Henry's parents we'd find Ada's. Having said that I can't even find a marriage of Henry Newton & Grace.

What were the names of Ada's children (to see if family names used)?

Looks like a couple of the names match to the census info Jonesey listed, so may be onto something.

I agree, Elaine, the name Horace and Ethel are not that common and they're in both families.

This is curious! Why can't I find any of these people on the 1891 census?

I cannot find them in 1891 either.
On the 1901 census I have just found that Henry is a Jewellers Gold Cutter (to help in identification), and they were living at 26 Tower Road.
There is a big gap in ages of children, so wondered about her children and second marriages, but the 1887 marriage found looks good.
So back to looking for a jeweller.
