Yes there is a Hugh Victor birth in KIRKMAHOE /DUMFRIES in 1905 so the death rootgatherer has found must be the right one.

You need to register at scotlandspeople.gov.uk which is free and then buy credts at £7 for 30. 1 credit to find the record and another 5 to view the image which will give you all the details such as parents names, address, cause of death and so on. But if you want to get the certificate you will have to order it for £10 unless it's gone up in price?

Although I'm not sure if you could just give them the details of the death record and get the certificate that way.

1905 MENZIES HUGH VICTOR M 0 KIRKMAHOE /DUMFRIES 835/00 0008

If you pm me your email address I'll download the image and send it to you Nicola unless you want to go for the certificate that is?

Kind regards,
Cathy

That one makes more sense, named after his father. There is a family connection with Kirkmanoe

Don't think that it is any of the above. I think he died in Dumfries?

These are the Dumfries deaths - my money is on number 2! Sorry I don't have enough credits to look at it to be sure.

The story of this boy was given to me last week by Janets daughter who is 85 . She said her mother remembers her parents leaving the house crying and seeing a hearse outside, she also said there wasnt much in age between children so I assumed it was John but as you cant find a death then maybe it was Andrew. I told my aunt that I would try and find out his name for her.
I will tell her what you found , Thank you.
