You are right Sylvia - I had found that - hence I knew he was a Baker and Corn Chandler.

If you want a really good one - look up my gg grandfather John Peters (braid/ribbon manufacturer) in about 1830 - defence seems to be "it fell of the back of a cart my Lord"!! Fortunately he got off.

Thanks. If the census is missing and they are both dead then it looks as though I'm stuck.

I had found the marriage - need evidence. I wonfer if the Simon marrued 1812 is his brother - is he on a cenxux?

She got her age right in 1881, 1891 and 1901 though.

Can't find her in 1841 or 51 though - perhaps she was indoors preserving her complexion.

she declared her age on the marriage certificate to be 22

I looked at the image and that is what was written!

people did (and still do!) lie about their ages on marriage certificates!


She probbaly didn't want to appear older than her groom
