Now turns out Patrick was born in England - as per the 1901 Irish Census. I've found a possible match for him in the 1881 English Census:-

KEENAN, Patrick. Head Married M 32, b1849. Ireland.
KEENAN, Rosa A. Wife Married F 30, b1851. Kildare,Ireland.
KEENAN, Patrick. Son Single M 11, b1870. Bacup Lancashire.***
KEENAN, Thomas. Son Single M 7, b1874. Durham.
KEENAN, John. Son Single M 5,1878. Whitworth Lancashire.
KEENAN, William. Son Single M 3, b1878. Shawforth Lancs.
KEENAN, Catherine. Daughter Single F 2, b1879. Shawforth.

Rosa was Rose in 1871.
Yet again I've drawn a blank with my searches, either before 1871 or after 1881 in either England or Ireland.
P.S.
Rose/ Rosa's maiden name was Dunn.Father Jeremiah,b.1825, Mother Catherine, b.1826. Both in Ireland.Three Sibs, i found, Elizabeth, b.1854, William, b.1859, John, b.1861. All in England.

Ellen maybe you could say what that is and where it came from ??

It looks like possibly from Ancestry and some correction has been made to a record ... if it's a WW I medal card is it one of the additions made to the names by Ancestry as a result of notations on the card ... or by a user ?

New information just in!!

Marrige Cert. found in Holywood. Frederick W. Horne and Elizabeth Keenan married June 1922.
Elizabeth's parents were Patrick & Catherine Keenan, nee McNally.
Any help here??

Michael

Michael Report 21 Feb 2011 01:55

Yes, Sorry about that!

For some reason Fred added an "E" to his surname on entering the Army, which complicates matters, but Celia's Surname was Horne before she married.
I like the Newry Keenan as Holywood is "just" up the road, and the connection to Holywood is a strong one.

chrissiex Report 21 Feb 2011 01:43

actually

Births Jun >>> 1903
>>> HORN Frederick William Hastings 2b 24

at least that's the only one in Hastings around the time

Horne no E, 1903

1911

HORN FREDRICK WILLIAM M 1904 >> calculated from age: 7 Hastings Sussex

I was initially curious because I have a HornE ancestor in the 19th century and Frederick was a name in that family ...

Okay, it really helps if you say what you have when you start ............

chrissiex

chrissiex Report 21 Feb 2011 01:39

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaforth_Highlanders

this could give you a time frame ... when was "later" is a question ...

Interwar years

In 1921, the 1st Battalion was deployed to the Scottish coalfields to maintain order during strike action by the miners. Later, the Battalion served in Ireland during and after the partition. The 1st Battalion returned to India in the late 1920s.

Both battalions served in Palestine in the 1930s.

Hi Chris & Anne,
I've got all Freds details thanks, born in Hastings 1904.
Really only interested in the Marriage, and the Keenan connection as i'm going over to Ireland in April to investigate. So any info i can take with me would be a bonus.
