Just checking - do we know Ivy's parents' names?

brummiejan

brummiejan Report 7 Feb 2011 23:41

Well, exactly. All Pamela knows for sure is that Ivy and family lived in Chesterfield as far as I can tell, but no evidence of their birthplaces..

William Brook in above 1911 is from Chesterfield - but I might be trying to be too clever here.

I would consider it a good call but for the seemingly confident statement

"all i know is she was born in chesterfield around 1900-1905 "

Maybe the poster can tell us HOW they know this to be fact

Right, can someone else see what they think about this?? (Probably not much but please don't laugh!!) I might be clutching at straws. Can anyone see Ivy Brooks born Notts on 1911?

Yes Ivy's brothers but i do see what you mean about age gap now your putting doubts in my mind about Ivy's date of birth.(maybe i was misinformed about her age.) .but dont forget Ivy may have been the eldest and she did have a child (my mother ) very young. .All a bit of a puzzle at the moment and all i have to go on are fragments of info passed down to me over the years
.All i can add is that my mother was born in 1927 therefore her mother Ivy Brooks was born early 1900s.
Regards Pam.

Clever eh? is this a joke?? I wish!

The only thing that strikes me at the moment is the large apparent age gap between Ivy and her brothers. You do mean they are Ivy's brothers I hope pamela?

Yes think your onto something now,(Aubrey lived at house at bottom of our garden around the time or just before we moved in,when he died his wife remarried and stayed in the house).
I was only a very young child at this time.So i think you have the right person because the year of death 1965 fits.
Many thanks again brummiejan and PricklyHolly ,you,ve both been fantastic.

Hi again Pam, it is not really anything for you to worry about, but instead of clicking on the purple "Reply" box, to add information to this thread. You are clicking on my name, which mean's, you are sending messages to my personal inbox which wont show up on here. All quite confusing i know!
Anyway, i am adding the info you have sent me to this thread......and maybe, we might be able to get to the bottom of it!! Good luck xx

PM recieved from Pam....

Not entireley sure its the right one ,all i know is she was born in chesterfield around 1900-1905,
She lived in Staveley ,had several siblings Aubrey ,Clifford and Ralph
Ivy had a daughter out of wedlock (my mother) and my great grandparents brought her up as their own, Ivy later married someone else and moved to Scotland..
Clifford died on 16.5.1943 (i know this to be correct as i have his bible and someone has written this date of death in)
Ralph married someone called Daisy and they lived at Holmegate (Tupton , Chesterfield), i did meet Ralph a few times
Aubrey lived at Middlecroft ,Staveley (at the bottom of the garden of the house where i used to live.)
.Many Thanks Pam
