As I said, you really need the marriage certificate to verify, but those middle initials came in useful on an 1871 search: |

Because there are so many John Davis around I think you're going to have to buy his marriage certificate to Louisa Grover to get his father's details. |

i think your abosolutley right and everything points that way. So chasing my blood line will go via John Davis not William Munday, although they would be my granfathers half brothers |

Stephen, I think Albert (William) just meant that legally he was still married, so Yes - they went off and did their own thing. Looks like he was also left to bring up the three lads. |

i believe william albert munday did use his middle name which threw me ten left |

Could they be stating they were married but went each others own ways |

William was still referring to himself as married in 1911: |

Stephen, divorce was unheard of for ordinary people in those days so it's unlikely they did actually marry. |

Kucinta, i found in 1891 he was based in Hilsea barracks.and married to a LOUISA GROVER. Now there was a few brothers of my grandfather john edgar pover who were THOMAS DAVIS b 1906 in portsea and Josepth Harry DAVIS at that address you gave. Just to add to the confusion lol |

it certainly does sound like a bit of playing away from home lol. John Davis was in Army serving in portsmouth and found census at barracks stating that she and John Davis were married!! but not sure they were |
