The William Westbury Jones on the Medal card was commisssioned - i.e. became an officer. There may well be an officers file for him at the National Archives. They are name indexed on their website, but usually only initial is given and not necessarily both initials and regiment is not normally given on the index either. As you can imagine there are lots of W Jones! You could try searching for him on the London Gazette website which should have his commission and any promotions.

Hi Tempest

I was able to obtain the information on Vivian Emrys Jones via his obituary in the medical journal, so i expect it to be a couple of years out. Vivian was unusual he had 4 degrees BSc MB CH b and Bs he researched TB in Glan Ely hospital in Cardiff. I have also been told he had a brother who was a commissioned officer in the indian army, but dont know a lot about him at all.

Thank you so much for your reply:)
Edit:- so so sorry its 1895 not the one i put, eeek i hope i havent caused to much confusion.

do you have the right birth year?
theres only the one born 1895 that ties with that 1901 census posted . not 1885 as per your enquiry
