Ann, I think we need some input from Una - find out where her information re sister Alice came from.

She hasn't come back to the thread, so I'll PM just in case she doesn't know how to.

Looks like one of the Annie Vose's at Prescot had another family member Alice on the 1891 census, she on the top of the census page on GR and I can't get back to the previous page to see the other family members - can anyone else check? On FMP she is transcribed as Annie Vose 1880 registration district Prescot.

Edit: forget this, the alice is her mother!

If you are sure of that 1905 marriage Una, the best way forward would be to buy that certificate, otherwise you could end up tracing the wrong family. Vose was quite a common name in the area

there was another Alice Vose registered 1879 W.Derby, but she hasn't appeared on 1881/1891 census with a sister Ann or any variation of the names.

Una, could you tell us where your information came from - and do you have any other information on the sisters?

Family (without Ann/Frances Ann) on 1901 census at same address - I think this is her marriage, but not sure which partner:

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Crann Patrick West Derby 8b 909
JOHNSON Mary W. Derby 8b 909
Jones John James W.Derby 8b 909

I thought the same about Ann Emma and Alice's births being close, but not impossibly close - then Mac found the family in 1891 with Fanny Ann.

Strange Annie is Ann Emma in 1911, but Annie on her marriage.

Depending on how sure you are about the marriage, you always have the option of going for the marriage cert to establish Annie & Alice's father's name and occupation, or gambling on the Ann Emma birth cert.

Unless anyone can put more of the pieces together meanwhile.

Have to abandon ship, hospital appt.

Going back to Una's original posting, the ages are very vague - how sure are you about the marriage and that annie (or Ann Emma) had a sister Alice? I thought the Ann Emma birth was a bit too close, but not impossible, to Alice's birth.

Kucinta

Kucinta Report 21 Dec 2010 11:11

Dosen't look too good, does it? Given Annie was Ann Emma in 1911.

Wondered whether Ann E. got corrupted to Annie in some records.

Thanks Vera, the ages are a little out from what Una posted, but Ann's talliesreasonably with the age of Ann Emma married to Ernest in census 1911.
