Hi Lisa,

So there is possibility that it's the wrong death, think you may need to contact one of the Ancestry people with him in their tree to see what they've found out to be able to narrow his death down to 1951.

The other death registered Q1 1952 ties in with his age, but as I say there is no middle initial & the name is spelt Ramsay - but if the person registering the death didn't know the information this could explain the discrepancy.

1911 cenus has his occupation as a Fish Hawker, living at 28 Phoenix Place, Shrewsbury with Elizabeth & 8 children. He may have changed occupation, but a ships boilerman would be an engineering occupation usually in a shipyard, my g-gfather was a ships boilerman, and had to serve an "apprenticeship" or whatever they called it then and he was around at the same time as your relly.

Added: There is one person (Julie) with a possible tree-match on GR.

Hi Mac.

John died in 1947 (if i have the correct cert) but he would have died prior to 1951 as it was his wife Elizabeth that died in 1951 in Shrewsbury.
And her death certs says Widow of John Henry Ramsey.

If he'd deserted the family back around 1940 they may not have known whether he was still alive or not, maybe she told people he was dead?
