Looking for my Great Grandfather Harry Maughans Family his dates 1863-1918,? Born Poplar London and living in surrounding area, Bromley. Married Jane Green 1898, she was a widow, with 3 children, Jane,Emma and John, all born Bromley area London.They had another daughter Mary Amelia Maughan 1898, Jane died 1901, he was in the workhouse 1911, and then I have nothing, My family believe there is an Ireland connection, somewhere maybe his parents , I have no idea, can anyone help, Many Thanks Sue

Haven't got that yet, Jane had been married b4 so not sure what her maiden name is, Well it says she was a widow ? All her other childrens surnames were Green . I think that might be my next step .

Found Janes maiden name Cross, born in Lambeth 1861

Change on place of birth to Bethnal Green, for Harry 1911 CENSUS.
I have no further information on his family,

Perhaps you would be better getting the marriage cert and taking it from there.

Once you have his father's name etc you can then work backwards

Update..................... Afternoon All hope everyone is well, Today I recieved my Great grandparents marriage certificate , so i'm off and hunting again.
The Details are,
DATE OF MARRIAGE...31 October 1898, @ The Church of the Holy Name and Our Lady of the Sacred Heart, Poplar, London.

Harry Maughan 34 years ( widower, which no one knew)General Labourer , but on census says wood chopper. His fathers name was Thomas Maughan ( deceased) he was a Labourer.

Married

Jane Rebecca Green 36 years (widow) Her Fathers name was Alfred Cross(deceased) he was a Blacksmith

They both lived at 40 Glaucus Street ? (very hard to read writing.) Bow Common

Right I'm of hunting any help I would be very grateful, many thanks

as both fathers were deceased at time of marriage I haven't had much luck.
