Thank you all for the help yu have given me. I have just recieved the marriage cert for Henry and Susannah's marriage. The parents of John Taylor 1878 place of bith Wolsingham Gatehead. I can find no trace of his birth either. .
I have had no luck with finding Henry's birth on the 1961 census he was born in Burslem? a railway excavator.
Henry's father listed on his marriage cert as James Taylor (farmer) deceased . The marriage took place in Staindrop Durham?1855.
I have found Susannah's family in Staindrop.
thank you all once again Wendy:-))

I have found Susannah in the 1901 census in Consett Durham with John and Hannah.
Thank you for your time I am very grateful

HI every one, can anyone help please?? I'm still looking for the parents of John Taylor on 1971 census.
They are Henry and Susannah (nee Stephenson )Taylor. I have them on the1861. I think I have Susannah on the 1871 as a visitor in Westo Durham. With out her children. So where were Henry and the children??
I have her on the 1891 and 1911 census as a widow . But I'm still missing both on 1871 and 1881 they seem to have vanished into thin air!!
Thanks again for any help on this, my hair is getting greyer by the minuet.

Hi Maryb,
Thank you for that.
I too had come to the conclusion about Thomas as being with the wrong grandfather. I had so much info being fed to me I had a senior moment.
I do know that their daughter was born in Barnard Castle, from the 1891 census as she is with her mother in Consett.
as you say where the heck are Henry and Susannah in 1871. May be they were away as Henry was a Railway Excavator and who would have to move with his work.
Thank you again and sorry I did not get back sooner. I had house work to do. (It gets in the way off the real work. LOL)

Marriage. Teasedale 10a 218 J/A/S 1855 Henry Taylor and Susannah Stephenson.
Susannah Stephenson born 1836 south Sheilds christened 14/8/1836 St Hildas south Sheilds by Thomas and Jane Stephenson. I think Jane Stephenson was nee Jackson born @ 1810 in Staindrop to Robert Jackson 1791 and Jane nee Brass 1771.
Now where the heck were they in 1871 i.e Henry and Susannah Taylor.
Maryb
Wendy are you thinking Thomas 1860 is with Grandad James born 1796 on the 1871 census. Thomas age 3 is with the same James in 1861,so he can't be the son of Henry and Susannah as he is with them 1861.

I have just recieved the marriage cert of John and Sarah Ellen Taylor.
John's father was Henry Taylor a deceased at the time of his marriage . I have found Henry at Susannah on the 1861 census with their son Thomas born 1860 at Barnard Castle.
I have found Thomas in the 1871 census with his granddad but no parents.
Their daughter Hannah was born abt 1868 at Barnard Castle. She was in service in Barnard Castle in 1881.
John was born in Wolsingham, Gateshead, Durham. This information is from the 1911 census he is with his wife and 2 children.
I just cannot find Henry and Susannah any where. I found Susannah as a widow in 1891 and again in 1911 in Consett Durham.
Could andbody please help again?? Thank you
Wendy :))

The only likely marriage I can see for John and Susannah...... which would suggest that Hannah was from a previous relationship , i.e. a different mother, or may not have been born Taylor.
