Jax...I put living relatives in my tree as Living female/male and their year of birth.....that way you can keep yourself in there without having to remove yourself and your parents, and attach them to other family members without revealing their details..........

Well I never knew that. Thank you Sylvia. I actually list my children, Grandchildren and other living relatives as living then surname. That way they are on my tree but I have not given too much info away. Its such a shame that we have to be so suspicious of everyone but we do have a responsibility to protect others in our trees. If anyone wants the info I am always willing to share, via messages, once I have established that we are related.

jax

you can't remove anyone who will leave relatives behind ....... so you have to remove children (ie, you), then the parents.

After seeing this I decided to remove my ex husband and kids although he has me but my name and place of birth is incorrect.
I tried to remove my parents who are also living but it would not let me??

Lainey

you can hide names on your tree ......... but if someone is looking for that name and puts it into the Search Trees, then the name appears as being in your tree.

so names are not really hidden

Just a thought, but couldn't David keep his children on his tree but just hide them? David you can set your tree to hide all living relatives who have been born within the last 120 years but have no death date.

I am sure someone will correct me if I am wrong.

Take care Lainey

Hello Rose, yes she remarried to a chap called `Carolan` it lasted two years, I have searched under that name as well, she divorced, I was told by a private detective that Luke had moved the the Welsh hillside with him to his small holding but have been unable to trace him. thanks regards David

I note that you have your son in your GR tree......this is against the site's T&C's. You are not allowed to include living people without their permission, and if you haven't seen them in 12 years, you can't possibly have their permission.

david

david Report 16 Sep 2010 23:43

yes, they found them when they were under eighteen and Jackie told them not to disclose their whereabouts or she would take them to court, I waited until they were of age and tried the s/army again, the reply was ` we`vie tried once, we do not open old cases` so another door closed, but that's life!

Quite easy..................

If people don't register to vote, they can't be traced. Equally, if they register but choose to withold their details from the public record, they can't be traced.

And if they don't marry, or die, they don't appear on the GRO index.

As adults, these young people are making their own decisions about how they control the info which is available about them

It`s as if they have become invisable, how is that possible?
