Cynthia, don't forget:: NO DUPLICATE POSTS !!!

... The reason for all the personal details, I'm sure, is the idea that someone who knows the person will see the post and go Yes! I know him! He's the red-headed guy with the peg leg ... and he lives just down the block and spends his evenings building furniture in his garage!

Thank you for that Jonesey, I will send my alternative message to him containing step by step guidance on how to return.......simple language and lots of space between lines. I can't tell you how often I do that!! Just sent one before I looked at this in fact.

I often have to smile at the little personal things folk include ie. he had a wooden leg, red hair, was good at woodwork etc. They must think that these things will help to locate their long lost rellies. Then I remember that whilst these things mean absolutely nothing to us, they are meaningful to the poster.

Off out to lunch soon.....goody goody. Cx.

Cynthia,

David made another post yesterday evening containing a bit more (but not much I'm afraid) information about his cousin .

Well, a polite note was sent and duly opened but not, as yet, acknowleged.

I see that I sent him guidelines back in July and received a polite response back. I am not convinced that he will return here but am happy to be contradicted.

Michael* dear......................shakes head in despair :)

Another beautiful sunny morning.....good morning all. Cx

Good afternoon both. It's a beautiful day here....much too nice for all the housework I have just tackled.

I am wondering if Peter is a member who has just been building his tree on this site rather than using the boards. I get many, many replies from people who have been members for ages but have never ventured onto the boards before.

I will compose a polite little note and see what happens.

Maybe I will have lunch first though :)) Cx

David's membership number shows that he has been a GR member since Adam was a lad.........one would have thought he'd have picked up a few clues about procedure by now.

Good morning, Cynthia and Ann............hope it's as sunny where you are as it is here

Cynthia Report 2 Sep 2010 09:37

Hm.....now, do I send poor Peter my usual advice on how to return to this thread (because I doubt he will find it for himself) or, do I send a nice little note advising that he take a look at the How to Use thread thus bypassing this thread altogether??

Polite answers only please! :)) Cx

Nice one, Janey - you did well to find that link............!!

Sniff.

Janey actually feels deep sympathy for the latest victim of this mismanaged place. It's the management that wants us to be mindreaders, to divine what surname board this was posted to (by entering the surname in the surname line just exactly as the post form directed be done, with no notice that one is actually writing in invisible pixels).

Mind you, that would still only gt us

Smith
Peter

or

Jones
Peter

or

Carbuncle-Suncatcher
Peter

but it would give us all something to go hunting for. Michael, er, notwithstanding.

David.

For you.

How true.....well done, Michael.

Can you solve some of my hitherto insoluble problems as well?

AnnCardiff

AnnCardiff Report 1 Sep 2010 23:12

no problem any more - solved by Michael - with or without a crystal ball!!! he's a clever lad that one!!!!

Flick

Flick Report 1 Sep 2010 22:39

Not sure why there's a problem.......'Mindreaders anonymous' should be able to deal with this.

Unless they are too busy playing with their crystal balls
