Was this same query not posted already just in the last day or two? The name is 100% familiar. What happened to that thread, if so?

In any event, this very old thread may be of intrest to you:

"hi there im trying to find out any information about wilkinson and rebbecca driver they came from bingley and had 8 children there names were bronte sara mable harold james thomas edgar ernest and lily if anyone knows of them please could you let me know thanks"

It's possible that poster could be reached through this system (by clicking on her name), if she still uses the same email account as then.

Someone here also has a Wilkinson Driver 1830 in their tree.

Hi Janey thanks a lot for helping me, All along I have been looking for a wilkinson Driver not James Wilkinson Driver. I did find thomas Wilkinson Driver baptisim in 1816 in Keighely and his father was Wilkinson Driver. that threw me. Was James wilkinson Driver illegitmate as you just mention Betty Driver. Will I able to find his marrriage in Keighley at the parish church. That was the oldest church then. Thanks again. Anne

Anne Report 25 Aug 2010 19:23

Hi Shirlock thanks a lot for the information you have given me why I could not find him is because I was looking for a Wilkinson Driver. I think he was illegitmate as it only mentions his mother Betty Driver. Will I be able to find their marriage in the parish church at Keighley. I dont know his wifes maiden name. Thanks again Anne

Hi Anne, the info here wasn't from me; several people have been trying to help. I just thought this wasn't the first post I'd seen about this. Is this the only post you have made about it?

The baptism record that shows only the mother's name would mean that the parents were not married.

Maybe you could give some info to help sort this out.

What is your connection to Thomas 1816? Can you give his children's names? His wife? Finding him in censuses would help place his birth.

Can you copy the baptism record you have for Thomas Wilkinson Driver 1816 Keighley? No one else seems to be finding it.

Oh, well, easily found at familysearch. ;)

THOMAS WILKINSON DRIVER
Christening: 17 NOV 1816 Keighley, Yorkshire, England
Father: WILKINSON DRIVER
Mother: JANE
Batch No.: C010682

No other baptisms with those parents are found.

So, starting over, Thomas is your person of interest, and you are looking for his parents?

For info, a James Wilkinson Driver (son of Betty, likely) died in 1852:

Name: James Wilkinson Driver
Gender: Male
Burial Date: 28 Aug 1852
Burial Place: Keighley, York, England
Collection: England Deaths and Burials, 1538-1991

Anne Report 25 Aug 2010 21:58

Hi Janey thanks for replying, sombody else wrote they had nine children. I found the baptism but it was in the name of Wilkinson Driver but all the others are james Wilkinson Driver. Maybe that one was a mistake. I found them all on the batch no CO10682. I think it could be the same family. what I was trying to find was jane and Wilkinsons marriage.
thanks again I hope you can understand me. Anne

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Aug 2010 22:05

Sorry, Anne, but this is not making sense.

The eight children in question included this one:

WILKINSON DRIVER - Christening: 06 DEC 1829 Keighley, Yorkshire, England

but they were the children of James and Jane Driver. Possibly the James son of Betty.

The record I posted for Thomas Wilkinson Driver shows the parents as Wilkinson and Jane. *Possibly* that Wilkinson was really James Wilkinson.

But Thomas was born a decade before the eight children of James and Jane, so it does seem rather unlikely that he's a ninth child. ... One possibilitiy is that the father married twice, both times to a Jane -- which would not be unheard of -- and Thomas had a different mother.

You say "sombody else wrote they had nine children". ? Who, where?

JaneyCanuck Report 25 Aug 2010 22:11

1841 census in Keighley

James Driver 50
Jane Driver 40
*Thomas Driver 20 <<<
Joseph Driver 20
*Isaac Driver 20
*John Driver 15
*Wilkinson Driver 11
*James Driver 9
*Ann Driver 7
*Mary Driver 5

The ones I've *ed are all good matches for names in the list of 8 baptisms (by name and age), plus there's a Thomas not too far off the right age (the way ages were rounded -- if he was not quite 25, as your Thomas was, he would show as 20).

Hmm, actually, now that I've finished *ing them, the only one who doesn't match in 1841 is Joseph!

and here's Joseph, I suspect -- Jenny is a variation of Jane:

JOSEPH DRIVER
Christening: 15 NOV 1818 Keighley, Yorkshire, England
Father: JAMES DRIVER
Mother: JENNY
Batch No.: C010682 (same batch)

So I think it makes sense and you have all the children now.

James was called Wilkinson on Thomas's baptism (their first child).

And Jane was called Jenny on Joseph's baptism (their second child).

After that, they got their names straight for the rest. ;)

If you get this death certificate (for the burial I posted earlier)

Deaths Sep 1852
Driver James Wilkinson Keighley 9a 118

it might have been signed by his wife or a child.

Cute, Michael. ;) I don't actually remember things that long ago, although some might suspect. In fact, I "JaneyCanuck" didn't even exist at that time! I did post that thread earlier in this one, though, in case it was of interest to Anne. The name seems to have been carried down and those people are undoubtedly related.

Anne, for some reason you've replied to the first post in this thread ... and said nothing about all the info I added, including census info confirming the family composition.

Anne

Anne Report 26 Aug 2010 21:21

Hi Janey thanks again for sorting me out. To answer your question the previous thread which was wrote in 2008 about Wilkinson Driver and Rebecca was my daughter Julie Anna Paton. At the time was doing family history but then got fed up. She is now working full time so is busy. I will now put the names on my family tree. Wilkinson Driver was my great grandad. Anne
