Find Ancestors

Can anyone help me establish the details of the marriage of John Lawson born c1818 at Streatham and Mary Elizabeth Thorne (shown as Elizabeth Mary on the 1861 census) born c1820 at Hastings. I have looked at all the indices and cannot find anything.

Did they have any children? If so, when was the first child born - and where?

To be honest I don't know. I initially have been trying to prove the origins of her father Thomas Thorne born c1791 and linked his entry in the 1841: 1851 census to this entry on the 1861. Mary Elizabeth is proving to be a vital link in this process, as Hastings is a key common factor.

Well this looks like Emma Harry from 1851.

I'm struggling to spot anything else Anthony. They sound like a reasonably difficult bunch to track ...

I've tried all sorts of combos on the marriages - both FreeBMD and the London Ancestry ones, although if mum and eldest boy were both born in Hastings gut instinct tells me they likely married there too.

Thank you so much for all your efforts. I agree that considering the age and place of birth of the three eldest children Hastings seems the more likely. There is a CD Sussex Marriage Index produced by the Sussex Family History Society at the local library that may help?? or a trip over to Lewes PRO. Anyway thanks again.
