Find Ancestors

I have been trying to find details of my grandmother for a long time. She always said she was born in Maryport Cumberland B. 21 Sept 1870/1871. Fathers name on her wedding cert was John dec. Mariner. There doesn't seem to be a Birth Cert. for her. The Catholic church have looked in Maryport for her. I just don't know where to look any more. She may have been Irish she married an Irish man although she didn't have an accent. Anybody have any ideas

Sandra, you said she married an Irishman, but there is no mention so far of him born in Ireland. Admittedly Patrick Francis points to an Irish family. And I can't find a Cumberland birth for him.

How about this as a possible for Mary Jane?

That would make her just 16 on marriage.

Would still need her parent's permission to marry, so may have told a lie.
