Sorry Dea

Am grumpy tonight - it was the invisible person who posted this - with her naughty invisible head on

Request Review One Hour Ago
She is isn't she ja...x Ooooer. Just to be purely pedantic......if one is going to be 'official', then I think one should differentiate between a comma and an apostrophe! Got my naughty head on tonight

Dea Report 19 Nov 2010 20:47

Thank you Renes - I wouldn't for one minute dream of saying anything 'nasty' to you. (and I am sure that Cynthia didn't mean what she said 'nastily' either) !!

I know why you are 'grumpy' but try not to let it get to you. - They are not worth it !!!

We will get them sorted in the end.

Hugs (and MORE hugs) !!

It's not much fun on here at the moment but it WILL be !!!

Janey

do you know what the legal posiiton is?

I have an unofficial, off the cuff answer from a friend.

if you receive payment of some kind for doing a job, are you not then liable?

and could you not then be sued for giving wrong information or not providing information?

so if these Advisors are taking upgrades and free subscriptions while doing the job ..................................

Sylvia

In UK all "employees " have a duty of care "

But I would have thought in this particular scenario

there is "no offer and acceptance" and thus no contract

therefore the provision of all and any information would not be covered under English Law

Although as I said before under the Inland Revenue Statutes they would be "Employees"

Sorry Renes - I am not good at jokes !!

My grand-daughter takes after me.

She tells me loads and rolls about with laughter but they do not make sense.......... e.g.

Why did the chicken cross the road ??

I don't know! ..........

Because she needed to buy a lettuce !!

HHHHhhhhhhaaaaaaaaaaaa !!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Roll on floor !!!).

...............

Why did the elephant cross the road ??

I don't know! ...

Because he needed a new suitcase!

HHHHHhhhh aaaaaaaaaaa !! ( (More rolling on floor, laughing !) !!

............

I will spare you the other 100 +

...........

She does make you giggle though - It must be infectious !!!

Nah, Sylvia, their only responsibility is to the person offering them the, ahem, emolument, I think.

I wonder what happens when their "offer" is terminated? ;) I'd probably argue (had I been invited and accepted, which didn't happen) that as long as I kept up my end of the bargain, I'd get free stuff for life. I'm sure that's covered in the contract, though. Appointment for a term certian.

What a way to make sure people don't get the full benefit of the site, though: induce them to post in a place where only a tiny fraction of the membership, using intentionally limited resources, can respond.

I'm sure it seemed like a good idea at the time. I hope it's rapidly becoming obvious that it isn't. I admit that I didn't think it would be this bad an idea.

The whole reason this site does what it does is becase of *all* of us, more often than not working TOGETHER.

Thanks Renes and Janey

I was told that my freebies would cease as soon as I ceased to be an Advisor ....... ie of limited term.

I have noticed that there is at least one person pm'ing requesters on the Help clinic, and seemingly with better information than the Advisors!

My email reply to Estelle was blocked agan

so I've tried the third way ..... sending it through this site.

That is favouritism and I am sad now !!

I had my Samuel possibly also found by someone PMing me with a census, which I duly posted on my thread on there asking if they thought it may be him.
No response..

I did have someone find a poss for Henry in 1891 but not found anywhere else, I did point out I could find that Henry no where else.
No response.

Fans

there are a couple of advisors on there using names that I have never seen before on the boards helping or otherwise.

I don't know if they have taken new names just for helping, or what

Well,

I don't know about 'you lot' but I feel I have totally wasted the past 2 days !!!!!!

I am going to bed soon and I will get up in the morning and tuck into Sylvia's lovely breakfast, then, if this site is still the same, I will do my very best to try and stay away from it for a few days until it all settles down.

Don't think I will be able to restrain myself though as I get withdrawal symptoms when I am not on here!! BUT, I think I owe it to my 'sanity' to try my very best !

G'night all -- early for me but I'm leaving shortly to go have a shower and then go to a focus group on municipal waste collection. ;)

Interesting in itself possibly, but I also get $125 which is going to pay for the Ancestry sub that just renewed itself 2 weeks ago!
