Got here by clicking on 300 and then in leaps....seems like it can't cope with us click on 520 or whatever.
I am now on my desktop computer and have the same prob as Sylvs. I have to scroll down past the boards list - the opposite side of which is blank - and the threads are down at the bottom on the left. Very strange but that must be something to do with the difference in computers or ISPs whatever.
Just noticed another poster without a name. Don't wanna star, just want me name back.....wwwaaaiillllll. Sob. Sniff. Sulk.
Going to do some ironing to cheer meself up. Cx

A reply I have just received (finished the ironing)
Dear Cynthia
Thank you for taking the time to write to us.
I am sorry that you are not happy with the recent changes that we have made to the Genes Reunited website.
We have reacted to feedback from our members to make these latest developments but inevitably, some of the changes suit certain member use more than others.
We are currently receiving a lot of feedback and suggestions from our members so I will not reply to your points in detail but please accept my assurance that your email will be individually read by our Management team and will be taken into consideration as we work to continually enhance the website over the coming weeks and months.
Best regards,
Laura Genes Support Team
I have responded that whilst I am aware that certain changes are needed on this site, to do so many in one go without prior warning etc. is ridiculous.
Off to finish my Christmas round robin laugh lines.

My response
Dear Alex
Yes I understand that you are having problems.
You offer no explanation or apology for the inconvenience caused only an intimation that I am not being patient?

Replies to my disgruntled mail to Genes, but only 2 of them when I sent 3,and another will be going VERY SOON...
Dear Vivienne
Thanks for your email.
I am sorry to hear that you are having problems using the site. Please could you try using Internet Explorer 8? If you use this browser you shouldn't have any problems at all accessing and using the site.
If you'd rather use a different browser then please make sure you are using the most up-to-date version of it. I can confirm that when I tested this, I was taken back to the thread I replied to. I hope this helps.
Best regards, Laura Genes Support Team

So...the standard emails then..and as Karen says ...what a crock of S##T
I have every up to date whatever you want on my computer as far as I know. My computer person sorts it all out to make sure I do,but what is Explorer 8? I have most things on this puter but dont know what they are? I know I know,I told you I am an eejit when it comes to puters. I can use my Google chrome or firefox to browse the internet, but both have the same probs on here so why is that then? Mind you EVERYONE is having the same probs so dont they think it is their fault at all then????

You're kidding, FBG! Weren't you actually asking about somebody in particular?
Slartibartfast's is gone too; I assumed he'd deleted. Mine's still there. Unsolved, of course.
I've just sent this to GR info/support about the page nonsense.
----------------------------------
Since the corporate team doesn't seem to be able to figure this out, here are the details of one of your current problems, quoting a post I have put on the board: Yup. I posted, and the url for this page is now
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/chat/thread/1249325?jump=7356131
You can't go to any other page number from that.
For instance, if I click on page 5, the url for that link is
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/chat/thread/1249325?jump=7356131&page=4
And that just reloads the page I'm on.
If I change it manually in my address bar to
http://www.genesreunited.co.uk/boards.page/board/chat/thread/1249325?&page=4
then it works and I get page 5.
How difficult is it for a tech person to figure this out ... and FIX IT?
Of course, now that I am editing this post, I will get sent back to page 1 ... The complaints you are receiving are not about "changes" to the website. They are about the complete NON-FUNCTIONALITY of the website for its paying users.

Not my thread on Clinic board JC but one asking about and chatting about the Clinic board ,Tips I think I had it on with quite a few replies, gorn.
The surname filter thing will not be good for newbies, they will never get to see the whole of the actual boards now as I have enough trouble navigating round this place now and if I was a newbie I would give up and go elsewhere what with me being slow on puters and getting rounds site as it is..
The only way I have found of getting round the surname filter is as I said last night. After submiting this post I then go back and click on "my thread participation"which then allows me to click on any board without having to click on the stupid"remove this filter"first.

None of us like to be taken out of our comfort zone which of course is what happens when any website we use regularly makes "Improvements" to their site. We usually get used to the changes eventually or devise ways round them which will no doubt happen. There can be little excuse however when websites make their changes without first testing and proving them before going live.
I believe that there is a technical term for what the good folks at GR have managed to do to the site over the past two days.
I think that the term is "Made a total #%@? up!!"
