"Alviegal"

I was trying to think about John Dalston from my head and found only yesterday the 1881 census. Its sitting on my desk, but my head has been brainwashed with all the US info sent to me from you!!
Sorry about that. I just knew when I was told that he might have followed his brother over to US, that I did not know about that, and I never checked the info I have on John.

I turn my computer off its after 10.00 pm and will be back again tomorrow night hopefully!!

Many thanks for your help

Sorry Jo, I thought you said you had no census records for John. He didn't stay long in the States anyway.

I have all the UK census info, but realise it is always helpful to put on the board. I have a sub to Ancestry UK, but not Worldwide, and only find 3/4 rellies who go to US or elsewhere, so never find it worth paying the extra.
You are doing a fantastic job - I cannot keep up with you!!
Thank you very much indeed for all your help

Now I thought her name at marriage was Moalkinger, but can quite understand how they can transcribe names wrong.
I cannot believe there would be many Frederika's - its an unusual Christian name, so it looks as though you have found her on the 1880 census before her marriage in 1881.

Funnily enough, I have just been looking at the Fulton site, but I don't know my way around New York very well!!
I have put it in my favourites

Thank you very much indeed for that info

I don't suppose John Dalston who also came over on the boat with William Dalston was in the U.S. Civil War Soldiers 1861-1865?
He is William's brother and I have no census for him either!! He was born in 1836 in Carlisle.

Many thanks for your help

Many thanks indeed for replying to my William Bell Dalston. Yes, he did have a brother John Dalston b 1836, Carlisle, who I know very little about.

If he was born in 1836, its possible he could have come over to US with his brother. Will check it out later.

Thank you also for the 2 websites you have given me, will also check them out. Margaret Manson is always full of info.

Thank you for your help

He's still here in 1851 so the 1848 date of emigration must be mistake.

Thank you again for the marriage. I will check out your wonderful site.
It looks as though he had a first marriage from the 1870 census to a Maggie R ? age 31. Does your wonderful site find this marriage?

What info does the 1860 census give? He could be in Philadelphia.
Not sure whether he came over to US in 1855 or 1848.
Different census give different info.
