I can never resist a Lincolnshire enquiry - got lots of ancestors from there

However, as Thomas gives his birthplace as Rutland - this MAY be his baptism

There are two on the IGI - this one is nearer to Lyndon - the other one is close to Stamford.

Hill, British Isles
Father: Francis , Mother: Mary

Hope you don't mind my butting-in, Jan - after you found all the family, it seems a bit cheeky to tag on the end.

Shirley - can I just echo Jan's comments about being open-minded..............a letter here or there in a name is nothing - quite often the differences are down to transcription errors by Ancestry etc......or bad writing, smudged images, and most of all, the fact that most people were illiterate, and the enumerator had to write what he thought the name was - or just interpreted what he heard. This is particularly relevant when people are living in different counties, and their accents/dialects become part of the equation.

One more little point - my great gran was officially Sarah - but all her family called her Sally.

My husband's Gran was Sarah also but called Aunt Sal by her favourite neice. And we have an ancestor who seemed to alternate between the two!
