Hi, I'm trying to find the parents of Ada Conroy, Born in Liverpool in 1869. I've found her in the 1871 census as Ada Cornuay and she's living with a Robert Jones and his wife. Could anyone please tell me the relationship, if any, between Ada and Robert? 10 years later she is still living the Joneses (as a boarder?) |

There were no penalties until 1875 for not registering births. |

1869 is TOO LATE for her birth - she was 4 in 1871 |

My guess is she was illegitimate and the Jones couple just cared for her: |

Ada married 21/06/1887 in St Jude's West Derby. She was 18. Sorry if I'm repeating but my last 2 posts have disappeared... |

Hi Jan, There were two Ada Conways. One was born 1866/7, the Daughter of John and Eliza the other was the Ada Conway living with the Jones family. Apparently when she married she gave her father as Thomas, but this doesn't make sense... I know that others have tried to order her birth certificate based on this info but the registrar wouldn't release it or give any more info. I'd try to order it my self but I'm skint :-( |
