There is really no point in you sending for the first marriage certificate as the information I posted comes from the original signed marriage register which I can send to you if you wish for your records. It's interesting to have because it contains their original signatures. Let me know if you would like and send me a PM with your E mail address and I will get it to you.

Sorry Astra, George Frederick was on the marriage certificate of George Edwards 2nd Marriage to Lillian Townsend. I do not have the full certificate of George E' and Emily Sharp's certificate but I will send for it tomorrow. I don't live in the UK and we have a slight time difference and I must close my internet now.

I posted the marriage record for the benefit of the researchers because the added information it contained may have been useful. When we are looking for someone we are working blind. You have to remember that you know this family from your research but we don't and the more information we can find then the better it is. You gave us the year of his first marriage but didn't tell us that on that record his father was just Frederick and a labourer. So how do we know if we are looking for a George Frederick or just a Frederick? What made you decide to go by the name on the 1920 marriage and not the 1890 one? What other information do you have that names his Father as George?

Yes Mary I have been asking about George Frederick Mason and his grandaughter Martha Mary Mason dob 6. 12.1891 I have a copy of her baptism record and also her brother George Louis Mason who was my grandfather dob 10.12.1893.
It was Martha I was hoping to find decendants of because we didn't know she existed until I started using G/R a few months ago.

I have just printed off the 1871 census and maybe it is the correct George Edward with father George Fred' I do wish the census people would have put the second names on the forms it would make the detective work a bit easier. Now do I send for the marriage cert' for George F' and Sophia or try looking throught the marriage searches?

Yes this is the correct Emily Sharp

Patricia

Patricia Report 1 Apr 2010 14:01

Yes Astra you are correct.
But I have that information, I have George E's death certificate..age 76 died 21.11.1943 in Leeds. which gives me dob 1867. I have copies of George Edward's first marriage to Emily Sharp born Hampton reg district Kingston Middlesex. and his second marriage to Lillian Townsend in Leeds. On George Ed' marriage certificate it states father as George Frederick deceased, that was 1920. We were always led to believe that the Mason family were originally from London, but where? because I can.t find George Frederick or his wife whoever she was anywhere. You are all so slick at this searching and I am geetting really frustrated most of my relatives are deceased so I have no-one to ask. Please keep helping. Patricia Mason

In the marriage information that Astra found the father is recorded as Frederick.
Have you definitely identified George Edward in the censuses of 1871 and 1881 (as you say that his age varies on the censuses) when he is probably living with his father, and thus you know who his father is. (Could you give us that information, please)
So are you just looking for him in previous censuses?
P.S, If George Edward were 57 for 1920 marriage, then he was born 1862/1863.
For 1890 marriage he was 24, so birth1865/1866

This was George Edwards second marriage we do know for sure because we have the accurate information from that point on. George Edward dob 1865/67 it varies on the different census but on his marriage cetificate he is 57 in 1920, so I take that dob for my records.

It's Goerge Frederick I am trying to find.

George Edward was born 1865/67 he was married to Emily Sharp 1890 I believe she died after her second child George Edward was born.
George Edward married Lillian Townsend when he was 57. I do have their marriage certificate. George Frederick the father to George Edward is the one I can't trace other than his death!
