This new factory (ab)use the name Landrin giving the impression that they continue the original Georg Landrin Chocolatier in St.Petersburg.
Georg Landrin however founded in 1848 in St.-Petersburg a factory that became well known all over Russia. My late grandfather was one of the last directors before the Russian Revolution.
Today this factory, still in the same building, is called Azart-The first integrated candy-factory.

More details then I knew before. Thanks.
The name must be really English. In French or Russian e.g.hardly pronounceable.
My family kept the spelling Hide and used very often Charles/Karl as first given name.
In Russia one use to speak of "Charles, son of..."
So the second given name gives me no help to find who is who when I have no more details.

Perchino,
in essence you are correct. Kronstadt was/is a harbour as Archangel..
Russia needed craftsmen so all sorts of people came to work.
In my case chocolate - sorry for you - was not the connection. It gave my grandfather however after the Revolution the possibility to find a new life in Holland. For many years Holland had several famous chocolate fabrics.
Indeed the history of trades could be of interest. But I found just a few publications. Even passengers-list are mostly focused on America, Australia.
