Find Ancestors

I'm hoping to order a few certificates before the price goes up but this one is really eluding me.

Great x 3 Granny was Charlotte Basebe, born c1800 in Devon but last found in 1861 living in Chelsea with son Samuel and his family.
Class: RG9; Piece: 34; Folio: 143; Page: 12; GSU roll: 542560.

I'm struggling to find a record of her death so any help would me much appreciated.

any idea where in devon she was born?

On the 1851 it says Tavistock but I've no idea what her maiden name was as I've never found her marriage to Thomas Basebe.

Is that her married name as there is only one Charlotte Basebe on Ancestry and she is marrying 1868 in Kent.

Basebe is her married name, I have never found her marriage to Thomas.

Cagsie and Choccy - both those censuses are her and the baptism is her son, my Great x 2 grandfather Samuel (Ishmael on the 1841).

She may have married as early as 1817 or she may be Thomas's second wife as London marriages have a William Basebe (1818) and a Thomas Basebe (1825) both with father Thomas, a carpenter.

Samuel wasn't born until 1835 and his sister Mary in 1837.

As far as I can see there were 2 Basebe families in London at that time. My lot, who were the plebs, Carpenters etc and a more up-market family who named their sons things like Athelstane and Ethelred. This family were the artists and later photographers and one of them, Charles Basebe is mildly famous.

I've been looking at the visitor she had 1851 Mathew East born Calstock Cornwall 1828 died Australia 1872 His mum was Charlotte Milford born 1799 but she was born Shorditch could there be a small chance that this is the same Charlotte?
She also had son Joseph James Milford in Cornwall 1827 died Australia 1875

Mary - that's a really interesting thought, it might give credence to the theory that Charlotte was the second wife of Thomas. I don't know how I prove it either way.
Can I ask where you found the information?

Tree on Ancestry,I found Joseph and Henry (Mathew) East on 1841 census with Robert Milford in Calstock Robert was born 1763.

If you put Mathew h East 1828 Cornwall and then look at family trees you will find it.

There are pictures of Mathew and his son .

Many thanks to everyone who's tried to solve this one but I'm still no closer to finding Charlotte's death.

At the moment I'm searching FreeBMD year by year from 1861 to 1871 with just Charlotte and Middlesex as the criteria hoping that I see something that could be Basebe.

in 1871 there is a Charlotte B a lunatic in Laverstock

or did she remarry at an elderly age?

Charlotte East born @ 1803 died 1877 in Shoreditch,incase she didn't marry thomas Basebe.

Trees on here with Mathew East and Charlotte Milford 1799 and they say she was born in TAVASTOCK so another connection.

1871 Shoreditch Workhouse Charlotte East born Beer Devon inmate.

Its looking like Charlotte Milford married mathew East then went on to live with Thomas Basebe but not marrying.
Maybe you should contact people on here with Charlotte Milford born tavistock 1799.
